EDITORIAL: The Nationalist’s backbone is made up of two very special columnists

Thank you to all our readers and advertisers for supporting The Nationalist this year. It has been another strong year for the paper and its website, tipperarylive.ie.

We look forward to another busy year in 2023, bringing you the news each and every week that matters to you and to your community.

Special thanks to our notes and town correspondents this year for all of their contributions and to photographers, John D Kelly and Anne Marie Magorrian, for their wonderful pictures which grace the pages of the paper each week.

Special mention as well to our sports reporters and sports notes correspondents - the local club scene is our bread and butter and our network of freelancers help us to cover all sports, from athletics to golf, from hurling to soccer and rugby.

Thanks also to Michael Heverin for his delicately written obituaries this past year and his peerless news and sports reporting.

The Nationalist’s backbone is made up of two very special columnists who feature across almost all the 52 editions of the paper each year.

Special thanks to Peg Rossiter and JJ Kennedy for all of their contributions over the last twelve months. They continue to be essential reading for anyone living in the Premier County.

Thanks also to Laurann O’Reilly, Fergal O’Keeffe and Karl Clancy for their consistency in publishing wonderful columns in each edition.

They offer wonderful insights and give the reader a break from the hard news of the earlier pages. Thank you very much for all your hard work.

Maria Taylor and Martin Quinn, our Cahir and Tipperary Town correspondents, also deserve a special mention for their work in highlighting events and news in their respective communities.

They are remarkable people and a pleasure to work with.

Their communities owe them a huge debt, as does The Nationalist newspaper, for their tireless work in each and every paper throughout the year.
