Tipperary County Council have granted permission for a new gym to open in Thurles
Former 2016 All-Ireland winning captain and three-time senior All-Ireland winner Brendan Maher has been granted planning permission for a new gym and wellness facility in Thurles.
Applicant Brendan Maher of BMA Performance LTD applied for permission in May of this year to open a new gym at Railway Road, Thurles.
Following his retirement from inter-county hurling in 2021, Mr Maher has worked in the fitness industry.
He runs fitness classes in Leap Fitness in Borrisoleigh, and is also involved in The Pilates Programme, a physiotherapy-led online Pilates platform which is run by his wife, Aoife Hannon.
The new facility will include an open gym area and a pilates studio.
The building was previously used by Dinan Timber Products, according to documents submitted with the application.
Permission was granted by Tipperary County Council on July 30 with four conditions attached.
