Hospice praises generous response to Sunflower Day
St Joseph’s pupils mark Hospice Sunflower Day by opening a new greenhouse
The pupils of St Joseph’s National School marked the Hospice Sunflower Day in their school last Friday.
Pupils enjoyed dressing up in their own bright and yellow clothes, meeting the visitors from the South Tipperary Hospice Group, and, of course, the grand opening of the Heptagon Greenhouse.
Some of the classes prepared beautiful sunflower art, which decorated the outside of the greenhouse.
It was a perfect day for the occasion as students also planted sunflower seeds that were given to them by Eileen Cronin and Michael O’Loughlin of South Tipperary Hospice.
The students are looking forward to seeing how much the sunflowers will have grown when they return to school next September.
Sean O’Donovan, Chairman of South Tipperary Hospice, thanked the students of St Joseph's for marking the day in the school.
He thanked everybody who took part and donated during the two-day Hospice Sunflower Days that took place all over South Tipperary last Friday and Saturday.
“ As ever, people were very supportive of South Tipperary Hospice and were incredibly generous in their donations over the two days.South Tipperary Hospice is also very grateful to the huge number of volunteers who came out to help us in operating collection points over the two days.
All of the funds raised will be spent locally on the expanding range of services that are being provided by South Tipperary Hospice,” said Sean O’Donovan.
