LETTER TO THE EDITOR: 'We will not pay 5% increase...'

Dear Editor,

I refuse to pay the increase of 5% on my commercial rates at Fennessy’s Hotel.

My wife Esther and I simply will not pay it.

I will calculate the precise 5% amount involved and deduct it from my payment.

The decline and dereliction, the demise of our once beautiful historic town centre is a disgrace.

We love the old town centre, where we were born and reared...

Margaret Rossiter is not wrong.

David Anchell, Camida, is not wrong.

Councillor Pat English is not wrong.

Councillor Michael Murphy is not wrong.

Councillor John Fitzgerald is not wrong.

And the thoughts and anger of our commercial neighbours here in the old town centre are very palpable and well placed.

Tipperary County Council should do the right thing and clear the 5% increase straight off the table.

After all, it is Christmas.
