Lorcan Wyer served in Clonmel since December 2003

During the most recent horse racing meeting in Clonmel the Racecourse Manager, DJ Histon, paid a heartfelt tribute to the long-standing Clerk of the Course Lorcan Wyer, who is leaving to take up a new indoor role within the IHRB (Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board)

Lorcan, a top National Hunt jockey in his day, served as Clerk of the Course at Powerstown Park in Clonmel since December 2003 and DJ Histon said, “We are deeply grateful for his professionalism, integrity and unfailing helpfulness throughout that time.

“His commitment has consistently gone above and beyond the duties of the role, always acting in the best interests of jockeys, horses and the sport of horse racing.

"We worked closely with him but he had the last word”.

As Lorcan, also the Clerk of the Course at Leopardstown and many other tracks put it, “I did my best”.
