Mosaic Project for Thurles Residents

Artist Lynn Kirkham will be collaborating with Refresh Thurles (Tidy Towns) group to deliver a creative community project entitled ‘Creating Ripples’.

The goal of the project is to enable people living in the Thurles Urban DED to learn to make a simple mosaic. This skill can then be transferred into larger, community outdoor artworks that Refresh Thurles have their eye on.

Creating Ripples is all about coming together as a community, but also not, because of Covid 19 issues. The project has been carefully designed to be covid friendly, individual or group friendly, age and ability friendly too while teaching a skill. Participants will be given a kit with instructions delivered through a pre-recorded video through the internet.

If you would like to participate in this project please send a private message to the Refresh Thurles Facebook page or email on [email protected] stating your name, age, address, contact number. You will then be informed where to collect the kit. (Max 2 kits per household.) The project will take approx. 2 hours to complete and participants will have a beautiful artwork of their own to keep. All that’s asked for in return is a photo of your creation, for our gallery. Due to the nature of the materials in the kits, they will NOT be available for children under 16.

The first 75 kits will be free to residents of the Thurles Urban DED.

(Funding for this project has been generously provided by Tipperary Creative Ireland and Tipperary County Council)
