Old Post Office in Tipperary given new lease of life Pharmacy Group opens flagship store

Great news!
Mulligan’s Pharmacy group is set to open a brand new Pharmacy, Café and Lifestyle store at Clonmel’s Old Post Office.
The heritage building sitting at the top of 32 Gladstone Street in Clonmel town centre has been saved from dereliction by Mulligan’s Pharmacy as they merge their two Clonmel stores into the newly transformed 5,000 square foot pharmacy, café and lifestyle store which will open on December 16, 2022.
The Old Post Office is a much-loved building of great historic importance in Clonmel town centre. It dates back to 1901 which is the name Mulligan’s has decided to give the new Café that it now houses.
Ronan Mulligan says: “The Old Post Office is a valuable piece of Tipperary Heritage that has been worth saving. We have a great fondness for Tipperary as my mother hails from here and we have great family ties to the area, she is one of the O’Kennedy family and my uncle was the late Michael O’Kennedy. Therefore when the opportunity came up to give this building a new lease of life and to create a flagship Mulligan’s store for Tipperary we were totally onboard.
"The result is a beautiful store, filled with light while the modern design enables the historical architectural elements of the building to shine too.
"For customers, they will now get to enjoy a Mulligan's flagship experience. The gigantic store features a full pharmacy offering where customers who have used our previous two stores in Clonmel can now use the expanded service on Gladstone Street.
"We are inviting our customers old and new to join us to celebrate our store opening day on December 16th where we will have lots of treats in store and some great giveaways.”
The new Mulligan’s also hosts a complete range of health and wellbeing products, skincare, makeup, Irish brands, a huge range of men's and ladies' fragrances plus a brand new gifting area.
Aside from the pharmacy and lifestyle store is the brand new 1901 café, which is located upstairs in the building and accessible by stairs and lift.
The Café 1901 is a 44-seat café serving delicious speciality coffee, herbal teas, healthy smoothies and milkshakes plus handmade sourdough pastries and gourmet sandwiches, light bites and a selection of sweet treats.
The opening is the group’s 20th retail store in addition to 19 other stores across Waterford, Kilkenny, and south Tipperary a recent pharmacy opening at Kilmacthomas and at Arnott’s in Dublin.
Mulligans was first established by Jim and Sheila Mulligan in 1957 when they opened a pharmacy at George’s St in Waterford City. The family group will now employ 280 people across the region.
The Irish family-run business is led by a second-generation of the family Ronan and Kate Mulligan.
From December 16th Mulligans Pharmacy Café 1901 at The Old Post Office in Clonmel will be open 7 days per week. For further details, see https://mulliganspharmacy.com/
