298 community groups throughout Tipperary benefit from new round of Government funding
More than €240,000 has been allocated to community organisations across Tipperary under the Government's Local Enhancement Programme 2026.
A total of 298 organisations across the county have received funding, with 28 groups awarded the highest amount given of €1,500. Among those receiving the top allocation are Clonmel Bridge Centre, Roscrea Community Employment Forum Ltd, Thurles Rugby Football Club, Tipperary Darts, Birdhill Community First Responders, J.K. Brackens GAA Club and Kilsheelan Tidy Towns.
The funding is part of a national €7 million investment announced on Thursday July 2 by Minister for Rural and Community Development and the Gaeltacht Dara Calleary and Minister of State with responsibility for Community Development and Charities Jerry Buttimer. A total of over 4,100 individual projects will be funded across the country.
The Local Enhancement Programme provides capital funding to support small community organisations, helping them improve local facilities, purchase equipment and complete projects that benefit their communities. The scheme is administered locally through Local Community Development Committees with the support of local authorities.
In Tipperary, the funding has been shared among a broad range of community organisations. Grants were awarded to sports clubs, community centres, Men's and Women's Sheds, Tidy Towns committees, first responder groups, arts organisations, charities, residents' associations and historical societies.
Sports clubs were among the largest cohort of recipients, with organisations including Thurles Sarsfields GAA, Carrick on Suir Athletic Club, Cahir Park Soccer Club, Nenagh Ormond RFC, Templemore Ladies Football Club and Roscrea Kayak Club receiving support. Community organisations such as Nenagh Arts Centre, Down Syndrome Tipperary, Cuan Saor Women's Refuge and Support Services, the North Tipperary Beekeepers Association and several Community First Responders groups also secured funding.
Almost every town and village throughout the county will have seen a some of level funding given and you can find the full allocation online here.
