Planning begins for major new industry infrastructure on IDA lands in Clonmel

The planning process to develop significant new industry infrastructure on IDA lands in Clonmel has started.
The IDA and Tipperary County Council have kick- started the process of providing a 10,000 sqm new build at Ballingarrane Business,Science and Technology Park in Clonmel.
Pratum BST, acting on behalf of both IDA Ireland and Tipperary County Council have appointed RPS Group to act as design team leader and secure planning permission for a proposed 10,000 sqm advanced building solution at Ballingarrane.
The design team will provide a full range of multi-disciplinary consultancy services to originate a design, develop the project and obtain planning approval for an advanced building solution on IDA Ireland’s lands at Ballingarrane.
Following an open procurement process, RPS Group was identified as the successful tenderer for this project which is being jointly funded by IDA Ireland and Tipperary County Council.
The Ballingarrane site commands a high-profile location of approximately 250 acres immediately to the north of the N24 Waterford to Limerick national primary route on the outskirts of Clonmel.
The site has the ability to cater for the full spectrum of development opportunities, ranging from start-ups to spin outs, second stage funded companies through to the largest multinational organisations.
Pratum BST aims to facilitate and provide for the sustainable development of strategic enterprise, knowledge intensive, technology-based industries and large-scale employers at Ballingarrane.
This includes the provision of research and development/innovation facilities which would support enterprise and employment.
“Today marks a significant step forward in the positioning of the Ballingarrane Business, Science and Technology Campus as a location of choice for future foreign direct and indigenous investment, capitalising on Tipperary County Council’s investment of €1m in the last two years in essential campus infrastructure to allow this project to proceed,” said Cllr Roger Kennedy, Chairman, Tipperary County Council.
“My thanks to IDA Ireland for their continuing commitment to Tipperary and for their support and advice on this project. My appreciation also to Anthony Fitzgerald, Head of Enterprise Tipperary County Council and former Director of Services with Tipperary County Council Pat Slattery for their work in advancing this and other projects on the Ballingarrane site,” said Tipperary County Council CEO Joe MacGrath.
Sarah O’ Connell Department Manager, Strategic Property Management, IDA Ireland welcomed the collaboation with Tipperary County Council.
She said the IDA constantly reviewed the portfolio to ensure the IDA have such sites in regional areas for future strategic development to support both IDA Ireland and indigenous industries.
