10. Jack Lanigan (Thurles Sarsfields) The younger of the Lanigan brothers showed his class in round one and his 1-6 was important in the three point win over Éire Óg. Hit his frees well and his boundless energy was a thorn in the side of an aging Éire Óg back line. Hit some lovely scores and finished his goal well.

11. Matthew Power (Ballina) One of the young guns which Ballina have been waiting to come to maturity, Power had a really prominent role in his team’s efforts in the loss to St Marys. Finished with 0-4 from play and was unlucky to leave another few behind.

12. Keane Hayes (Gortnahoe Glengoole) A player that has assumed a leadership role in the forwards in the absence of Ronan Teehan, Hayes had a fine game against Lorrha and was unlucky to be on the losing team. The second half was a Hayes led effort, as he hit some excellent scores, finishing the game with 0-10 to his name, with three of those coming from play.

13. Eoin Barry (Killenaule) The best forward on show in the first game in Borris-Ileigh on Saturday. He did untold damage to the Port defence, with his pace a constant worry for the Lakesiders. Won countless frees, especially when scores were hard to come by in the first half, and also hit 0-3 to go with it. A very good outing from Barry.
