Tipperary Film Festival set to for it first outing in Nenagh

A brand-new film festival is coming to Tipperary next month, celebrating creativity, storytelling and the wealth of talent found both locally and further afield.

The inaugural Tipperary Film Festival has been created to give filmmakers of all ages and experience levels an opportunity to share their stories on screen. Whether an experienced filmmaker, an emerging creator or someone who has simply picked up a smartphone and started making videos, the festival is inviting people to get creative and submit their work.

Based in Nenagh, the festival has been founded by Jake Mitchell, Seanpaul Fitzpatrick and Nancy O’Donoghue. Jake Mitchell and Seanpaul Fitzpatrick are both filmmakers and creative collaborators based in Nenagh and are co-founders of LAZ Digital, while Nancy O’Donoghue brings her passion for film and the arts to the project.

The festival aims to showcase the many different stories and perspectives that exist in communities across Ireland and beyond. Its submission categories reflect that ambition, covering everything from Local History & Heritage, National History & Heritage and Folklore, Myth and Legend to Documentary, Drama, Comedy, Horror and Science Fiction, Animation and Environmental and Rural Life.

There are also dedicated categories for Community Voices, Children’s Filmmakers and Senior Entries, making the festival particularly broad in its invitation to filmmakers. The organisers hope to create an inclusive event where people from different backgrounds and generations can have their stories seen and appreciated by an audience.

The event will be held in Nenagh Arts Centre on September 11, 12 and 13 of September. You can find out more about the festival on tipperaryfilmfestival.ie.
