In an update report issued at 10am, it said Tipperary Fire & Rescue Service crews, supported by the Air Corps, will continue to manage the remaining fire activity and monitor conditions across the mountain.
The Fire Service said a number of isolated hotspots remain, including fire activity in the vicinity of the Holy Year Cross. These areas continue to be actively managed by crews.
It reported that smoke levels are considerably reduced today (Sunday), although some smoke may still be visible in the vicinity of the mountain.
“Significant progress has been made in recent days in bringing the wildfire at Slievenamon under control, with fire activity now substantially reduced across the mountain.
“Tipperary County Council Fire and Rescue Service crews, supported by the Air Corps, will remain on site to manage the remaining hotspots and to monitor conditions across the wider mountain area.
“Residents, particularly those with respiratory conditions, are advised to continue taking appropriate precautions where necessary.
“The multi-agency response remains in place, with all agencies continuing to review conditions and prioritise the safety of crews, local residents, landowners and the wider community. Tipperary County Council Fire and Rescue Service again thanks local residents, landowners, farmers and support agencies for their ongoing cooperation and support,” the statement concluded.
