Emly business marks 100 years with community celebrations
Callanan's Grocery and Hardware in Emly celebrated 100 years of serving the local community with a special event on Saturday, July 11.
In a message posted on social media, the Callanan family thanked everyone who helped mark the occasion.
"We would sincerely like to thank all our customers and friends for making the centenary celebrations so special. We are very grateful to everyone who stopped by to mark 100 years at our shop on the Cross and for your continuous support."
The shop was established by Thomas O'Dwyer in 1926, the business later passed to the Fogarty and Burke families before Betty and Jonas Callanan took over the shop 24 years ago.
Cllr John O'Heney presented Betty and Jonas Callanan with a Certificate of Appreciation to mark the shop's centenary.

Cllr O’Heney said: "The shop has been a focal point in the village for a century now, providing all of life's necessities and also employment to many over the years. It is also a place that people can meet, chat and share the local news."
He added: "Wishing them both many more happy years ahead in business."
