Pupils from local primary schools were recently welcomed to Clonmel Town Hall for a special photo opportunity with the Mayor of Clonmel, Councillor Pat English, following their success in the Charles Bianconi 150th Anniversary Colouring Competition.

The competition, organised by Clonmel Borough District, invited pupils aged 7–12 to engage creatively with the legacy of Charles Bianconi, whose pioneering transport network had strong links to Clonmel. The response from schools was extremely positive, with a high standard of colourful and imaginative entries received.

Winners from each age group were awarded prizes, including bicycles for first place, reflecting Bianconi’s contribution to transport and innovation. Additional prizes included Love Tipperary gift vouchers for pupils and schools. Winning entries were also acknowledged during the St Patrick’s Day Parade celebrations in Clonmel.

Clonmel Borough District thanked all participating schools, pupils and families for their enthusiastic involvement and congratulated the young artists on their achievements.
