Tipperary teacher's passing a 'source of shock for his family, colleagues and friends'

The death occurred on Saturday, November 26 at Tipperary University Hospital, Clonmel of Michael Tobin, Dualla Road, Cashel.
His passing was a source of shock for his family, teaching colleagues, neighbours and friends.
He was very much associated with Dualla as he was predeceased by his wife Jenny (nee Phelan) who died in 1998 at the untimely age of 49 and who is buried in Dualla.
Michael hailed from Toor, Kilcash and in Cashel as a woodwork teacher and gifted craftsman he first taught in the Vocational School Cashel and then in Cashel Community School in 1994 until his retirement.
He was a diligent teacher, a loyal and respected colleague and a true gentleman. Above all, he was a devoted family man and much loved by his grandchildren.
In retirement, Michael lived a life full of adventure.
As a member of Clonmel Mountaineering Club he was a volunteer in mountain rescuing and was involved in a number of mountain trips.
He also enjoyed cycling and motorbiking.
As well as travelling the roads of Ireland, last May he enjoyed cycling in Spain. As his funeral cortège left Cashel en route for Dualla cemetery, a guard of honour representative of teachers past and present and pupils was formed outside Cashel Community School.
A group of motor bikers were in attendance to escort his remains to Dualla for burial.
He is survived by his two daughters Aoife and Niamh and son Damian also by Jessica Sessa (daughter in law) Davy Colville and Brendon Roth (sons in law) Jimmy and John (brothers) Mary, Joan and Rena (sisters) Sofia, Jack, Odhran, Rian, Sadhbh, Dillan and Olive (grandchildren) brothers in law, sisters in law, relatives and friends to whom sincere sympathy is extended.
