The Fionn MacCumhaill Players, based in Mullinahone, are bringing their new play Canaries to Fethard House for a four-night run

The Fionn MacCumhaill Players are bringing their new production, Canaries, to the Grove House Fethard for four nights at the end of October.

This show promises to be “a night of fun and laughter as we join the cast for a holiday with a difference.”

Canaries is a comedy about Tommy, Marie and Marie’s father who go on holiday to the Canary Islands and meet up with Jane, Richard and their gang.

Drinking, lying, partner-swapping and amusing incidents follow and Tommy and Marie end up having a holiday that they will never forget, but not necessarily for the right reasons.

The Bernard Farrell play was first produced in October 1980, and in the Tipperary outing the role of Samantha is played by Louise Kearney.

Samantha is the tour operator at the 1980s Canaries Hotel. She is smart, knows her job, and honestly could give Karoline Leavitt a run for her money in today's world.

Meanwhile Peggy O'Brien takes on this iconic role of Contessa, who came to the Canaries with her grandson Carlos but wants to go home to Madrid. Oblivious to all around her, she only comes to life when someone mentions ‘Madrid’.

A Spanish-themed night in the period-house setting of Grove House, the show runs for four nights from Thursday October 29th to Sunday November 1st, with a complimentary drink and nibbles at the break.

Tickets are on sale now via GR8Events for €30.

The show begins at 8pm sharp, with doors at 7.30pm. Booking can be made online, but tickets are limited for each night.
