12-month probation bond for teenage girl who committed assault in County Kildare

JUDGE'S DECISION
A 12-month probation supervision order was made in relation to a teenage girl who assaulted another person in County Kildare.
The decision was made by Judge Desmond Zaidan on Thursday, February 8 last, at Naas District Court.
Her defending barrister, Donncha Craddock, told the judge that his client (who was accompanied to the court by her mother) struggles with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (also known as ADHD) and depression.
However, Mr Craddock added that she is now taking medication to treat these conditions.
A probation report was handed in to the judge, who noted that the girl was at 'a moderate risk' of reoffending.
The judge added that he took her personal circumstances in mind.
He said that he would 'give effect to the recommendations from the report' and placed the girl on a probation bond, which will last for 12 months.
Judge Zaidan also gave gardaí liberty to re-enter the case against the girl in the event that she commits any other offences during the duration of this bond.
