Alleged attempted knifepoint robbery of charity shop detailed to Kildare court

ACCUSATION
Gardaí claim that there was an attempt to rob a charity shop located in Clane.
The allegation was heard at Naas District Court on Thursday, March 21 last.
Judge Desmond Zaidan was informed about the allegation concerning one Lorraine Hennessy, with an address listed as 19 The Avenue, Coach Road in Clane.
The 42-year-old is the suspect in an attempted robbery which took place at the National Council for the Blind of Ireland's (NCBI) shop located in Clane on March 20 last.
Gardaí allege that Ms Hennessy entered into the shop and produced a small knife.
One garda who was present in the court told the judge: "This knife was not recovered, but it is visible on CCTV footage."
It was also heard that Ms Hennessy allegedly attempted to open the till, but was unsuccessful, and subsequently left the shop.
BAIL CONDITIONS
Judge Zaidan agreed to grant bail on a number of strict conditions: Ms Hennessy must observe a curfew from 10pm to 7am; she must reside at the listed address on her charge sheet; she must not enter into the NCBI shop in Clane; she must lodge her own bond of €500; and she must maintain sobriety.
The judge also gave liberty to both sides to re-enter the case at short notice.
He adjourned the case involving the accused to July 18, in order to allow time for directions from the Director of Public Prosecutions in relation to the case.
