RESISTED ARREST

Gardaí present at Naas District Court on Thursday, March 17 last, told Judge Desmond Zaidan that a man allegedly brandished a steak knife at them.

The judge was told that gardaí answered a call in relation to 'a family law issue', and that the caller claimed that they had seen the accused brandishing a knife at a property located in County Kildare.

It was alleged that when the man was confronted by gardaí, he resisted arrest and allegedly brandished a steak knife at them.

Gardaí added that the alleged knife used by the defendant was a steak knife, with an eight-inch blade.

Judge Desmond Zaidan remarked that the man faces 'very serious' allegations.

The judge adjourned the case involving the accused to a date in April, and remanded the man on continuing bail until this date.

In addition, Judge Zaidan marked the case peremptory against the defendant.
