It is the only pub/restaurant enterprise in the local area

The Johnstown Inn pub/restaurant, on Naas’ outskirts, has undergone a substantial renovation and will reopen this summer.

The landmark premises is the only business of its kind in the immediate hinterland and it has undergone a significant refurbishment programme, which got underway about a year ago.

It was bought by the owners of Lawlor’s Hotel in Naas, when it went to market with a guide price of €1.9m.

It occupies 900 square metres just off the N7 dual carriageway and came with planning permission a fully equipped bar and restaurant with a kitchen, a nightclub complex as well as permission for a number of apartments

The premises was described by the selling agent as having the potential to become a boutique hotel or to be redeveloped entirely.

The Johnstown Inn has been in existence since the 1700s and had been owned by the retiring Jim Sheridan for about three decades prior to the sale.

It is understood that a precise opening date is not available but the long awaited reopening is likely to happen around mid-Summer, perhaps in early July.

Because the enterprise had been closed the first task was to restore utilities and services but it's thought that the restoration is now at an advanced stage.
