Carbury survive to send Larries into relegation final

Carbury sent St Laurences into the dreaded survival showdown after coming out on top 0-9 to 0-6 in Manguard Park
Carbury 0-9
St Laurences 0-6
Carbury retained their senior status as they got the better of St Laurence's in Round 3, Group B of the SFC at Manguard Park on Saturdy afternoon.
It was a game full of tension and while this one will not last long in the memory nevertheless the honours went where they belong as Carbury were the better side against a St Laurence's side, that replaced their manager after conceding seven goals to Raheens on their last outing, but they failed to sparkle, never led and while they were still in with a chance right up to the end, hardly deserved to get anything out of this one.
The opening half was the ultimate bore, both sides finding it difficult to cope with the cross-field breeze but probably more to do with what was at stake.
Carbury though had the better of the opening half with Tommy Gill in particular showing his skills.
And it was Gill who opened for Carbury after three minutes.
Alan Kearney added a second on ten as The Larries were beginning to add up the wides.
Eoin Cully made it three points to no score and Tommy Gill raised another white flag on 19 minutes.
After hitting five wides Larries finally opened their account on 23 minutes after a foul on TJ Nolan saw Jason McHugh convert a 40m free.
Tommy Gill stretched the lead on 28 minutes but Larries kept in touch with McHugh getting his and his side's second point of the afternoon as we reached the half-time with Carbury leading 0-5 to 0-2 and still all to play for at that stage.
Jason McHugh reduced the gap to two on the resumption with a free but Carbury replied with Alan Kearney firing over a beauty.
TJ Nolan gave Carbury hope with a point but the next four points were shared equally with Jimmy Dunne and Jack Cully (free) scoring for Carbury and Felix Lawlor two frees, the lead remaining by two with 50 minutes on the clock.
Brendan Keatley received a straight red for a rash tackle as we entered time added on.
Jack Cully fired over the closing free as Carbury survived while St Laurence's have one more opportunity to retain their senior status.
