Tom Cross Transport JFC

Castlemitchell 5-10

Ballykelly 1-4

Coming into this re-arranged fixture, both sides knew they couldn't progress in the Tom Cross Transport JFC and that they would be competing in the Junior 'A' semi-final, but nonetheless, Castlemitchell picked up a comfortable victory.

Played in torrential rain in Moorefield on Thursday night, three goals in the first half and two in the second half proved the difference between the teams.

Ross Harris, Mark Fennelly and Ray Kavanagh all raised green flags in the opening period, while James Harris and Darroch Mulhall tagged on a couple of points.

Ballykelly did have good spells in the first half, but trailed 3-5 to 1-2 at half-time, with Eoghan Sinnott and Eddie O'Connell registering their points and Daryl Brereton scoring their goal.

The second half was more one-sided with Castlemitchell outscoring their opponents by 2-5 to 0-2.

Ray Kavanagh, Darroch Mulhall and Ross Harris continued knocking over points, while Mulhall and Harris put the gloss on the scoreline with two more goals.

Consolation points for Ballykelly were scored at the end, but they made little difference and Castlemitchell got the win.

Both sides will now focus their attention on the JFC A' semi finals.
