Rathangan Community Centre gets a touch of colour
There was a welcome splash of colour in Rathangan last week.
Rathangan Tidy Towns posted some pictures of the new mural painted by artist James Kirwan at the Community Centre car park.
"The mural illustrates literary figures linked to Rathangan as well as historical figures and important periods in Rathangan's history. You'll be able to see representations of the royal ringfort, medieval castle, life on the canal and the evolution of peat harvesting as well as key figures such as Elizabeth Pim, Ned Broy, Maura Laverty, Bithia M. Croker and William A. Byrne. This is of course a teaser of Rathangan's rich history and we would encourage everyone with an interest in Rathangan's past to call in the library and look for more reading material," it said.
