Completion of €263k day services centre in this Kildare town

A new day services centre has been completed in Athy, Co Kildare.

The new centre, addressed at 15 Emily Square, Athy, Co Kildare is the result of a “change of use” planning application from retail use to day services centre.

According to Construction Information Services (CIS), the scheduled completion date for the centre was May 27 2026, with a start date of December 15 2025.

CIS notes that planning permission was first submitted to Kildare County Council for consideration on June 25 2025.

The application comprised of a change of use planning permission from retail use to day services centre use with some external and internal alterations to include:

• additional front door and adjustment to glazing and footpath to front elevation (west)
• inclusion of two universally accessible toilet units
• the inclusion of a canteen
• the inclusion of a multi-functional room
• create safe drop off surface to rear of unit (east)
• and all associated site works.

The architect for the development was ArEng Consulting Limited.
