Concern over Kildare road safety after child knocked down near school

'It should be made safer'
A local child was knocked down by a vehicle near the Naas CBS secondary school.
Cllr Bill Clear told a Naas Municipal District meeting of the accident in the context of a need to make the route between Friary Road and the main street safer. He claimed that after the accident the driver asked if the boy, who was not seriously injured, was okay and left.
He was referring to plans for the realignment of Sarah Flood’s cross and also asked about the timeline for the constriction of the junction connecting Newbridge Road with Corban’s Lane.
“We need to make Corban’s Lane safer," he said, adding that Kildare County Council should not wait developments for at the unopened Naas Shopping Centre before proceeding.
“We need to make Corban’s Lane safer,” he said.
According to KCC a detailed design has been completed for this project and tender documents are being prepared.
KCC also said a tender for the completion of slit trenches is due to issue and that will be followed by the issuing of the main tender. It is hoped to start work in the second half of 2025.
