Council to assist with Conservation Management Plan for this Kildare site

Cllr Padraig McEvoy (Ind) sought clarification from the council with regard to St Farnan’s site, Prosperous
An Independent councillor has asked the local authority if it can assist local stakeholders with a Conservation Management Plan with respect to a site at St Farnan's, Prosperous, Kildare.
Cllr Padraig McEvoy raised his question at a meeting of Clane Maynooth Municipal District, held on Friday, July 3 2026.
Cllr McEvoy asked: “Can the council confirm if it is in a position to advise and support local stakeholders in preparing applications for funding a Conservation Management Plan following the report by the Heritage and Nature Unit on the St Farnan's enclosure, church and graveyard at Downings North, Prosperous?”
In its report, Kildare County Council stated that the Heritage and Nature Unit is available to meet with local stakeholders/group(s) associated with St Farnan's.
The Heritage and Nature Unit, the report specified, could advise on possible funding streams and to provide guidance on the preparation of a funding application for a Conservation Management Plan.
The Heritage and Nature Unit could “also advise on the ongoing care and maintenance of the site while protecting its heritage”, the report concluded.
