Creative Kildare group launches first exhibition in Maynooth

The exhibition will be on display until September 24
The Kildare Creative Sphere proudly launched its first group exhibition, Fragments, at Maynooth Library on Thursday, 5th
September.
The exhibition will be on display until 24th September, showcasing the diverse and vibrant works of ten talented artists: Bairbre Herbert, Rosemary Noonan, Donna Mae Linton, Eileen Keane, Nina Raeside Reilly, Lyn B Worrall, Orla Colleton,
Deirdre McNalley, Lisa Woods, and Deirdre Groves.
The opening event was a resounding success, attracting 30 guests who engaged with the unique and varied pieces on display. Each artwork in Fragments responds to the concept of fragments, with pieces created during different periods of each artist’s
life. Despite being created separately, the artworks collectively weave a narrative that interprets and reflects each other's stories, creating a cohesive and thought- provoking exhibition. Some pieces also incorporate poetry and animation, adding
layers of depth and expression to the collection.
Rosemary, one of the exhibiting artists, spoke at the event and shared insights into the formation of the Kildare Creative Sphere.
“The Kildare Creative Sphere was formed in 2022 when some of us met during a residency at the Riverbank Arts Centre,” Rosemary explained. “After that experience, we began meeting at the Monread Community Centre in Naas, near the Naas Ball
sculpture, Perpetual Motion. Our gatherings eventually found a home at Naas and Newbridge libraries, where our group continued to evolve.”
As the group grew, so did the connections between its members. “We got to know each other, formed friendships, and supported each other in our practices,” Rosemary continued. “Today, we have 14 active members, and a wider community
of 24 artists who stay connected through our WhatsApp group and are always welcome to join our weekly meetings.”
Reflecting on her personal experience, Rosemary added, “I can only speak for myself, but being part of this group has been an incredible support on my creative journey. Working as an artist can often be a lonely path, and I am so grateful to have
found a tribe of fantastic women to share this journey with me, supporting and inspiring each other along the way.”
Fragments is a testament to the strength and creativity of the Kildare Creative Sphere, highlighting the power of community in the artistic process. The exhibition is open to the public at Maynooth Library until 24th September, offering a unique
opportunity to engage with contemporary local art.
