Defendant broke his partner’s legs — Kildare court claim

IN-CAMERA
A defendant in an alleged domestic violence case broke his partner's legs, according to a Naas District Court judge.
The comments were made by Judge Desmond Zaidan on Thursday, January 26, during an in-camera (in private) domestic violence court session.
It was heard that the defendant threatened to break his partner's legs, and then followed through with the threat.
When the accused made no appearance, defending barrister Mark Gibbons (who was acting on behalf of solicitor Cairbre Finan) remarked that he was surprised, as the defendant usually turns up to court.
Judge Zaidan remanded the accused on continuing bail until February 2 , which is when he is due to be sentenced.
