A Kilmoney South homeowner's residence was badly damaged last Tuesday

A “distressing and frightening” incident of criminal damage has been reported in Kilmoney South, Rathangan, Co Kildare this week.

According to Gda Shona Nolan of Leixlip Garda Station - who appeared as a guest on Kfm's Crime Watch slot this week - the incident occurred in Kilmoney South, a townland on the R401 close to the town of Rathangan.

The incident - which Gda Nolan described as “a very distressing and frightening experience” for the homeowner involved - occurred on Tuesday, October 20 at 9pm.

While the homeowner was sitting in her kitchen, she heard windows in the house being smashed, with all the front and side windows of the home broken.

A considerable amount of damage was also done to the front door of the residence.

According to Gda Nolan, the fact there was so much damage done to the front door suggests the perpetrator may have used some form of implement.

In total, the damage caused to the home is estimated at €10k - €15k.

Enquiries are ongoing in the Rathangan area.

Anyone who can assist gardai in their enquiries is asked to call Rathangan Garda Station on: 045-524353.
