Eamonn Callaghan Skills Development Camp a great success at Naas GAA

The former Kildare and current Naas player attracted 56 players; catering for 13 year-olds to 16 year-old girls
The recent Eamonn Callaghan Skills Development Camp proved to be as popular as ever, attracting 56 players; catering for 13-year-olds to 16 year-old girls. It was a great opportunity for these young players to develop their football skills under the guidance of one of the most accomplished senior players to grace the pitch at club and county level.
This is the third year of this initiative, co-ordinated and supported by the U15 mentors and Naas LGFA Committee.
Eamonn Callaghan was ably assisted during the coaching sessions by some of the Naas minor players, including Lily Kelly, Ella McAndrew, Kitty Ryan, Robert Murray, Cian Farrell and Eli Dhlos.
This was an invaluable experience for all these players in the development of their football also.
The pitches were awash with colour as players wore their Naas club jerseys while others sported their county colours; all adding to the unique atmosphere of each session which was three hours in duration from 1pm to 4pm.
The coaching emphasis was skills focus involving all the basic competencies including the kicking style, hand pass and fielding the ball.
Game plans, strategies and positions on the pitch were also included in the programme of activities during the development camp.
All the sessions were conducted in a very organised manner with a fun element also .
Eamonn and his team of assistants employed a very holistic approach and consequently all the players engaged wholeheartedly in each session.
Gaelic Football is a recreational activity, enjoyed by all these players who wish to develop, improve their skills and progress as they proceed through the various age levels.
On the final day of the camp, Eamonn, his team of assistants and all the players gathered in Naas GAA Clubhouse to enjoy a pizza party. Having expended a lot of energy during the three days, this treat was well deserved and thoroughly enjoyed by all, particularly the players.
There was the annual raffle and ten lucky winners enjoyed the prizes. The organisers of the camp gratefully acknowledge the efforts of all involved who contributed to the success of the development coaching camp.
