Gardaí search south Kildare house and find cocaine and €19k in cash

As part of Operation Tara and ongoing investigations into those involved in the supply of controlled drugs and related crime in County Kildare, Gardaí conducted a planned search of a residence in Athy on Monday.

A weighing scales and packaging equipment was also found on the property.
A male in his 30s was later arrested in connection with the investigation and detained at a Garda Station in County Kildare under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984.
The drugs seized will now be sent to Forensic Science Ireland for analysis.
Investigations are ongoing.
Gardaí said this seizure forms part of Operation Tara; an enhanced national anti-drugs strategy, which was launched by Garda Commissioner Drew Harris on 2nd July 2021.
The focus of Operation Tara is to disrupt, dismantle and prosecute drug trafficking networks, at all levels - international, national, local - involved in the importation, distribution, cultivation, production, local sale and supply of controlled drugs.
