Glenn Ryan reacts to Kildare hitting five goals against Waterford in Tailteann Cup

Kildare ran out 5-15 to 0-6 winners in Fraher Field
They (Waterford) were difficult to play against in the first half, they got very deep and very happy to keep the ball out of the midfield area; difficult to take the ball off them and turn them over and most of our attacks were against a team with everyone behind the ball in the first half where last week against Longford we turned over a lot of ball and were able to attack on the counter.
The thoughts of Kildare manager Glenn Ryan, following Kildare's emphatic win over Waterford in Round 2 of the Tailteann Cup at Fraher Field on Saturday.
“Our shooting, in the first half, was not as good as last week, everyone was expecting a big lead at half time but the way they set-up that was never going to be the way.”
The difference in the halves was really we did not get the early scores something that we did get in the second, said the manager, adding previously we weren't making or taking goals but today we did take our chances in the second half and five goals was a good return in the end.
Looking forward to the next game, against Leitrim the manager said “we have two weeks, you would like to have kept going, like to keep the momentum going that we have built up, we'll see what happens tomorrow (Leitrim v Longford) and then prepare for that.”
Good to get game time into some of the younger players: “Yes, they are all training together, you must remember this is still inter-county level and you need to be brave to give them the opportunities when the chances come around.”
