Herbal cannabis worth over €1.2m seized in Kildare

Approximately 62.5kgs of herbal cannabis with an estimated value of €1,250,000 was seized in the Kildare area yesterday as part of an intelligence-led operation.

The seizure was made as a result of a joint operation conducted by Revenue’s Customs Service and the Garda National Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau (GNDOCB). A further €12,000 worth of cocaine was recovered by Gardaí in a follow-up search.

Two males, aged in their 20s and 30s respectively, were arrested by An Garda Síochána and are currently detained at a Garda Station in County Kildare under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act, 1996.

Investigations are ongoing.
