How this year's Kildare Senior and Intermediate Football Championships will work

The 2023 Joe Mallon Motors (Preliminary Round) gets under way this weekend with all sixteen clubs in action.

The preliminary draw was made some time ago and resulted in the following pairings with the winners going into the winners group and the losers to the losers group.

SFC pairings:

(1) Raheens v Celbridge;

(2) Confey v Clane;

(3) Carbury v Eadestown;

(4) Clogherinkoe v St Laurence's;

(5) Maynooth v Ballyteague;

(6) Sarsfields v Kilcock;

(7) Moorefield v Athy;

(8) Naas v Johnstownbridge.

Group A: winners of the opening four games from above;

Group B: winner of games 5 to 8.

Group C:

Loser of games 1-4;

Group D:

Losers of games 5-8.

The 2023 Auld Shebeen Bar, Athy, Intermediate Football Championships also starts this weekend, again, with all sixteen clubs in action in the Preliminary Round, the same format as the senior with the following fixtures, winners going into winners' group and the losers to a loser's group.

IFC pairings:

(1) Straffan v Allenwood;

(2) Nurney v Castledermot;

(3) Sallins v Two Mile House;

(4) Leixlip v Ellistown;

(5) Kilcullen v Rathangan

(6) Caragh v Ballymore Eustace

(7) Monasterevan v Round Towers;

(8) Suncroft v St Kevin's.

Group B: winners of games 5 to 8.

Group C: Losers of games 1-4;
