Ireland U20s have qualified for the U-20 Rugby World Cup semi-final following a 47 -27 win over Fiji in West Cape, South Africa. Naas' Andrew Osbourne was among the Kildare contingent to play a part as he was named in the starting XV. Ireland came out on top in what was emotional occasion for the squad with the sudden death of Munster coach Greig Oliver, who passed away in a paragliding accident in Cape Town.

Prior to the tragic news, Greig's son Jack was named on the bench for the tie with Fiji. The team also wore black armbands for the game to honour the passing of St Michael's College students Andrew O'Donnell and Max Wall on the Greek Island of Ios. Six of the current Irish squad attended St Michael's College.
