Tickets on sale now for Classic weekend
County Kildare’s favourite all time rock star has been unveiled by the Curragh Racecourse with a countywide poll showing that an overwhelming majority have voted for the late great Joe Dolan as their favourite all time classic singing star.
The extensive survey was carried out by the Leinster Leader / KildareNow media house to mark their monster classic rock themed party that kicks off the big Tattersalls Guineas Festival this Friday evening 24th May after racing with top tribute Joe Dolan tribute act leading the lineup.
Yes ‘There’s no show like a Joe Show’ in Co Kildare as 7 in every 10 people surveyed in the county (70%) said that the late, great singing sensation is their preference and easily beating all other choices in the poll. Perhaps surprisingly the survey also found that Joe Dolan came in a way ahead of the second placed Tom Jones with just 2 in every 10 Kildare people voting for the great Welsh star (20%) who in turn beat the legendary Rod Stewart and George Michael who both scored 5%.
The famous social and sporting weekend at the iconic Kildare venue is set to kick off with an evening meeting of top-class racing this Friday 24th May and The Curragh are urging as many people as possible to raid their old wardrobes and attics and come along in their best classic rockstar costumes with Irish Derby tickets up for grabs for the best dressed on the night to party the evening away to the sound of Joe Dolan, Tom Jones, Rod Stewart and George Michael tribute acts.
Over the weekend, racing enthusiasts can immerse themselves in the excitement of the Tattersalls Irish 2000 Guineas and the Tattersalls Irish 1000 Guineas races, the first of the Classic races in Ireland, which will see some of Europe's swiftest horses vie for glory.
