KWWSPCA shelter seeking home for little Odie the lurcher

This week, we would like to introduce Odie, the smallest lurcher currently in our care at the shelter. At just over one year old, Odie is fully grown, but unlike most lurchers, he is particularly petite in stature.

When Odie first arrived at the shelter, he was an extremely frightened little dog who had experienced very little, if any, exposure to the outside world. However, with plenty of kindness, encouragement and reassurance from our shelter volunteers, his confidence has gradually begun to grow, and he has made wonderful progress since his arrival.

Despite this progress, Odie remains a very shy boy who needs time to feel comfortable around new people. Given that his first year of life was far from what any dog should experience, it is understandable that he remains cautious and unsure of his surroundings.

He will need a patient and understanding owner who is willing to give him the time and space he needs to learn that he is finally safe.

Odie now looks forward to his daily walks at the shelter and is slowly becoming more accustomed to spending time inside the house at the shelter.

For a dog who was deprived of so many everyday experiences in his early life, even these small steps are significant milestones. What we would love most for Odie now is to see him heading off to his forever home, where he can enjoy all the happiness, security and adventures that every young dog deserves.

Beneath that initial shyness is a very sweet and affectionate little dog who has so much love to give.

Upcoming Event

Preparations are already underway for our Christmas fundraising events, and we are delighted to announce the first of our two Christmas fairs, taking place on Sunday, November 22, from 12 noon to 5pm at the wonderful Newbridge Town Hall.

So be sure to mark the date in your diary, as there will be plenty of opportunities to pick up some fabulous Christmas gifts while supporting a very worthwhile cause.

Our KWWSPCA stalls will offer a wonderful selection of items, including Christmas gifts and decorations, jewellery, presents for pets, our 2027 calendars and much more. There will also be a fantastic range of local craftspeople and businesses showcasing their own stalls, with plenty of unique gift ideas to suit everyone.

Admission is free, and free parking is available in the car park behind the Town Hall. We look forward to welcoming everyone for what promises to be a lovely festive afternoon, while helping to raise much needed funds for the animals in our care.
