Clogherinkoe, Broadford and Balyna are running a Film Awards Night on March 15 in Johnstown House Hotel with over 100 people of all ages and backgrounds taking part

Clogherinkoe GFC, in conjunction with Balyna and Broadford, are running a Film Awards Night on March 15 in Johnstown House Hotel with over 100 people of all ages and backgrounds involved. The award night comes off the back of the recent Oskars event hosted by the three Kildare clubs.

The awards night will be held to raise money to supplement the €138,283 received from the Community Sports Facilities Grant for the “drainage and levelling of pitches." The clubs' growing numbers has put the grounds under pressure and they are now hoping to carry out much needed remedial works to ensure the facilities are in top shape for all age groups and codes.

Clogherinkoe player Dan Grehan, Broadford Hurling's Jack Sutton and Balyna Ladies' Rachel Cribbin will all be taking part. If the players cannot be a part of the event, their parents, grandparents or coaches have been drafted in.

Eight films have been cast, Father Ted, The Snapper, Squid Games, Calendar Girls, Derry Girls, The Green Mile and Forest Gump. There is a link HERE to show every movie and how you can sponsor each actor.

Every film will be recorded over two weekends with the casts deciding on locations and props. Kevin Rowe Events arranged rehearsals and all of the filming on the day. Each film will have a trailer for advertising on social media and then on the night of March 15 each film will be shown.

On the night there will be a judging panel to decide the best actor, film and so on with other awards for highest grossing actor and film. Everyone who sponsors an actor will be entered into a draw for a €500 voucher for The Connacht Hotel in Galway.

Tickets will be sold through each actor receiving an initial allocation of seven tickets from Today Tuesday, February 18. Contact an actor and the club will do all they can to match people with a ticket.  The organisers have announced that Clonmel Enterprise are the main sponsors of the event with their own Contracts Director, Brian Gravin, taking on the role of Father Frost in Father Ted.

Every contribution helps the club towards their goal and all contributions are welcome. To get involved, email [email protected], ring Anne Hill at 0866061297, or CLICK HERE.
