A boy has appeared at Naas District Court in connection with an alleged theft.

It’s been claimed that the 12 year old stole an iphone, ipad and a keyboard with a total value in the region of €3,000

He cannot be named because of age and Judge Miriam Nolan directed that the defendant was not to be identified.

It’s claimed that the incident took place at Newbridge Road, Naas, on July 10 last.

A remand date was sought by Sgt Dave Hanrahan to allow for directions from the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions.

Defending solicitor David Powderely told the court the boy consented to this application.

Judge Walsh also granted free legal aid.

The matter is due to come before the court again on September 21.
