BOOK OF EVIDENCE SERVED

A young man accused of a sexual assault offence has had his case sent forward for trial.

The defendant appeared before Judge Desmond Zaidan at Naas District Court on Thursday, March 21 last.

He was accompanied by his mother on the date in question.

Gardaí allege that the man was intimate with a young woman in County Kildare back in 2022.

It was claimed that, at one point, she allegedly told him to stop, but he ignored her.

He then allegedly 'proceeded to sexually assault her.'

After a book of evidence was served by gardaí on the accused, Judge Zaidan sent the defendant’s case forward to the next sittings of Naas Circuit Criminal Court.

These sittings will commence on April 9.

The judge remanded the accused on continuing bail until the case resumes.

Reporting restrictions were imposed in the case by Judge Zaidan in order to protect the identity of the alleged injured party.
