An uncontrolled dog carried out an attack on another, it was claimed at Naas District Court.
Jana Samalova, 39, whose address was given as 18 Sallins Pier, Sallins was prosecuted for breaching the Control of Dogs Act at Canal Bank, Sallins on December 19, 2020.
Sgt Dave Hanrahan claimed in the court that the defendant’s dog, a cross between an English pointer and a US bulldog, was off the lead when it attacked the injured party’s animal.
The injured dog was smaller and was grabbed around the neck, he alleged.
The court was also told that the cost of having the dog treated by a vet amounted to €1,096.
He further said that the injured party had had a two year old child with her at the time.
Judge Desmond Zaidan said if he banned the owner from owning a pet it could mean that the dog would have to be put down.
The case was adjourned.
