Cllr Rupert Heather questioned the council over the Crodaun Wastewater Treatement Works
Kildare County Council has been asked to advise what measures it is taking to reduce peak-time traffic congestion in areas of Kildare, as caused by the Crodaun Wastewater Treatment Works.
The council was further asked if the current traffic management arrangements will be reviewed to minimise disruption to local residents.
Cathaoirleach of Celbridge Leixlip Municipal District, Cllr Rupert Heather (LAB) raised his question at a recent MD meeting, held on June 19 2026.
The council's response stated: “The Municipal District Office monitors peak time queuing at the Uisce Éireann works on the R405 and on the surrounding road network. Where improvements to light sequencing or the manual control of traffic flows was deemed necessary to minimise disruption this was requested and the Uisce Éireann Project Team implemented the changes.”
The report concluded: “Large scale critical infrastructure works in a busy urban roads network will unfortunately cause unavoidable disruption particularly at peak times.”
