Kildare man admitted having €250 worth of cannabis in his home

A probation report was ordered in Portlaoise District Court for a Monasterevin man who admitted possessing cannabis.

Kian Thorpe, aged 19, with an address given in court documents as 9 St Mary’s Lane, Monasterevin, admitted having cannabis at his address on December 29, 2020.

Sergeant JJ Kirby said gardai attended the house on that date and discovered the drugs which were valued at €250.  

Solicitor Josephine Fitzpatrick told the court her client said the drugs were for his own personal use.

Judge Andrew Cody granted legal aid and ordered a probation and  welfare report.

He adjourned the matter to Portlaoise District Court on July 6.
