The driver was stopped at Cherryville on Kildare's M7

KC Roads Policing Unit recently stopped a vehicle on the M7 at Cherryville, Co Kildare, which had no insurance, no motor tax and no NCT.

The driver claimed to hold a provisional licence; however, no record of a valid licence could be located on the system by gardai.

The motorist received:

  • €460 in fines
  • Three penalty points
  • A minimum €250 vehicle impound fee
  • A court appearance in relation to the no insurance offence.

A garda spokesperson stated: “No insurance. No tax. No NCT. No licence record. Driving is a privilege, not a right. If you take to the road, make sure you are legal, insured and properly licensed.

“KC Roads Policing will continue to target those who put themselves and other road users at risk.”
