KILDARE: Public meeting to call for more bus services in Suncroft

Locals are holding a public meeting in Suncroft next week to call for better bus services for the village.

The meeting is taking place in Suncroft Community Hall at 4pm on Monday.

A number of public representatives have been invited, including local TD and Ceann Comhairle Seán ó Fearghaíl as well as local councillors.

Organiser Tracey Clarke Kiely said that local residents need more bus services passing through Suncroft in order to go to school, college, jobs or to medical appointments.

She said: "The village needs more bus services because not everybody has a car.

"I know of one person who goes to the Curragh Camp Post Office to collect the pension and has to pay €10 for a taxi each way because there is no suitable bus service."

Tracey is calling on local TDs to raise the issue with the Minister for Transport and for local councillors to make representations on the matter to Kildare County Council.
