A teen, whose parents are deceased, fled from a war torn country.

The teen was subject of an application by Tusla, the Child and Family Agency, for a care order until the child reaches 18 years of age.

The teen will start the Leaving Certificate cycle this year and Naas District Court heard the teen arrived here late last year.

Before this happened an attempt was made to force a marriage with a member of a movement in the native country.

The court heard that the subject of the application is happy in the placement setting.

The court further heard that a care order was needed in the case in the absence of parents or guardians and the teen was described as a vulnerable young person.

The teen is residing with a couple and is getting on well in that setting as well as at school.

Judge Miriam Walsh said she would extend the interim care order and said an application for a full order should be made at that stage.
