Tidy Towns groups will be eligible to apply for grants from €1k to €4k for their area in 2027

Kildare South Fine Gael TD, and Minister for Agriculture, Food and Marine, Martin Heydon, Fine Gael TD has congratulated Tidy Towns groups across Kildare on their results in this year’s SuperValu TidyTowns Awards and welcomed news that all Tidy Towns groups will be eligible to apply for grants from €1k to €4k for their area in 2027.

Speaking following the awards ceremony held in Croke Park, Minister Heydon said: “I want to pay tribute to the many TidyTowns volunteers across Kildare who’s work and commitment to their local areas ensure that our communities remain vibrant, welcoming and pleasant places to live, improving Kildare as a location of choice to live, and to visit. The SuperValu TidyTowns competition makes a hugely positive contribution to communities across our County and indeed the country.

Continuing, Minister Heydon said: “I know this is a very special occasion for Tidy Towns groups around the Country and in particular in Kildare, as their round the year work is recognised and acknowledged by the state. Kildare groups performed extremely well once again in this year’s competition, a testament to the hardwork of many volunteers, with 12 Gold Awards for community groups in Kildare.

“I particularly want to congratulate the Gold Award winners in South Kildare, namely Newbridge, Ballymore Eustace, Rathangan, and Kilcullen. These groups showcase the positive impact of community spirit and volunteerism. This is evident week in, week out as we see volunteers across Kildare out and about early in the morning and late in the evenings, doing their bit to keep their area looking its best.

“We are so lucky to have volunteers who give their valuable time to their Tidy Towns groups, and without them, Kildare communities would not continue to be the vibrant, sustainable places that they are.

“To assist with the valuable work, all groups in Kildare who entered the competition will be eligible to apply for a grant of between €1,000 and €4,000, depending on population size for 2027.

“Tidy Towns groups not only keep Kildare shining, but also make a significant contribution to driving biodiversity initiatives, building sustainable communities, and overall aiding in achieving our climate goals.

Concluding, Minister Heydon said: “I want to congratulate all local groups for their successes in the 2026 competition and encourage them to apply for the 2027 funding. I look forward to continuing to support Tidy Towns groups in Kildare as they progress more and more positive initiatives to keep our towns and villages thriving and shining.”
