Kill school receives funding from AIB Community Fund

The funding will be used to support the development of outdoor learning space
Saplings Special School, Kill today announced that it has received an award of €6,500 from the third annual AIB Community €1 Million Fund, to help with its work in the Kill, Co Kildare community.
Over the last two years, the AIB Community €1 Million Fund has supported over 150 charities across Ireland.
Earlier this year, AIB asked its customers, the wider public, and staff to again nominate registered charities, that connect with causes that matter most to them and their communities, in the AIB Community €1 Million Fund.
To those charities chosen by the customers and wider public, AIB is allocating €700,000 across the four provinces and a separate category for charities in the greater Dublin area, while €300,000 will be donated to charities chosen by employees. AIB is committed to connecting our customers with their local community groups. We have introduced, through our partnership with Payzone a new donation feature on our AIB Mobile app, enabling our customers to donate to their nominated charities directly on the app.
The charities will be listed on the app for the year following nomination, before the following year’s nominated charities are listed instead. Speaking about receipt of the award, Alan Brennan, Principal of Saplings said: “A huge thank you goes out to AIB for choosing us as a charity of choice for this years’ community fund. We are absolutely delighted to receive this funding which will make a huge difference in our ability to support our children and their families.
"We have very close ties with our local AIB teams in the area and are thrilled that many of the AIB staff nominated us as their charity to receive this financial support from the community fund. People in the community and families see the impact we have on children’s lives daily and how our staff work tirelessly to ensure that we are giving our children the best education we can. The funding from AIB will be used to support the development on the outdoor learning space at Saplings. It is envisaged that this money will purchase special bikes and scooters for our children to learn how to use and a storage facility which will allow for easy access for our children to the equipment.”
Speaking about the Fund, AIB Managing Director Retail Banking Geraldine Casey said: “We are delighted once again this year to support over 70 charities through the AIB Community €1 Million Fund. AIB is deeply rooted in towns across the country and we are privileged to be able to provide much needed funding to those who are making such a powerful contribution to improving the lives of those who live in these communities. I would like to thank our customers and the public for taking the time to nominate these very worthy charities.’’
