LATEST: 100 tyres destined for bonfires seized by Kildare Gardaí

Leixlip Gardai in conjunction with business owners over the weekend seized over 100 tyres from a group of youths.

Gardaí said these youths had accessed five industrial bins from local businesses and started ferrying their hoard to its destination.

In a message to parents and guardians, a Garda spokesperson said: "We understand it is Midterm and that we are quickly approaching Halloween.

"However, we ask you to please talk to your children and remind them about the dangers involved in fires.

"We want all children to have a happy and safe Halloween."
