Latest cold weather initiative for Kildare to commence later this week
The programme will last for six months
Kildare County Council’s latest cold weather initiative for County Kildare is due to commence later this week.
The announcement of the plan was heard at the latest Kildare-Newbridge Municipal District meeting, which took place on Wednesday, October 21 last.
The topic arose during the meeting when Sinn Féin councillor Noel Connolly (who appeared by virtual means) submitted the following question to Kildare County Council: “Can the council confirm when its cold weather initiative will start and what additional capacity will be available in this Municipal District?”
In response, Kildare County Council said via the report it presented at the meeting: “Kildare County Council’s cold weather initiative will commence from Friday, October 30, 2026 until Wednesday, March 31, 2027.”
“During this period, an additional 14 beds will be available with another 14 extreme weather beds for severe weather conditions,” Kildare County Council added.
Following this, Cllr Connolly told Kildare County Council that he accepted its report.
